JJ Rawlings called for our visit to Ghana the second time- Morgan Heritage
Grammy-winning Jamaican reggae band Morgan Heritage has disclosed that their decision to land on the African continent specifically Ghana was championed by the late former President Jerry John Rawlings.
The Morgan Heritage band announced their presence in Ghana on April 19, 2023, ahead of the release of “The Homeland” album which will feature Ghanaian musicians like Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy.
The group whose first visit to Ghana was in 2018 said they were once motivated by the founding father of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Jerry John Rawlings of blessed memory to visit Ghana, a home that welcomes people from different continents.
“I quite remember Former President JJ Rawlings, may his soul rest in Peace. When he came to Jamaica, his speech motivated the whole community and then he urged us to come back to Ghana..he said Ghana is the gateway to Africa so it was something we always looked forward to, which is to come to Ghana and Kenya” Gramps Morgan spoke on behalf of the group in an interview monitored by The Ghana Report on Citi TV.
The group, made up of Peetah Morgan, Gramps Morgan, and Mr. Mojo Morgan, in March 2023 announced that ‘The Homeland’ album which consists of a 21-track collection will be released on Friday, April 21, 2023.

Apart from Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy who will be featured in the album, African artistes like Popcaan, Youssou N’Dour, Shaggy, Beenie Man, and Mádé Kuti.
