A 16-year-old girl has set her boyfriend’s room ablaze over a breakup at New Nkusukum, a suburb of Mankessim in the Mfantseman Municipality of the Central Region.
Information gathered indicates that Rebecca Nyomi went to her boyfriend’s workplace, a corn mill shop, and demanded ‘chop money’, but her boyfriend Samuel Agbobli told her that he had broken up with her because she was cheating on him.
The suspect, according to the report, cried and begged her boyfriend for forgiveness, but he kicked her out of his workplace.
When she left the workplace, she went straight to his house and opened the door with a spare key.
After torching the room, she locked the doors and the windows and returned to her workplace.
None of the boyfriend’s items, including the fridge and TV, could be retrieved.
It took the intervention of neighbours to quench the fire to prevent all 22 rooms in the compound house from being razed down.
The suspect, Rebecca Nyomi, confirmed burning the room and later appealed for forgiveness.
According to her, she also contributed to the purchase of the items in the room.
Rebecca Nyomi is assisting police with investigations at the Mankessim Police Station after she was dragged to the police by community members.
