Jerome Opoku has to learn from mistake that got him red carded- Black Stars Head Coach
Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has called on Ghana defender Jerome Opoku to learn from the “mistake” that led to his dismissal from Ghana’s international friendly game against Nigeria.
Ghana lost 2-1 to Nigeria in the first of two friendly games lined up for newly appointed Black Stars head coach Otto Addo. The Black Stars play Uganda on March 26.
Trailing 1-0, Ghana defender Jerome Opoku picked up a red card for an apparent dissent in the 56th minute forcing the Black Stars to play with 10 men for much of the second half.
According to Addo, English born Opoku said something that was deemed offensive by the referee and Addo believes players with a British background don’t see certain words as offensive but added that Opoku should learn to avoid them.
“For them it’s normal to use certain words and they don’t mean it that way… it was unlucky but also Jerome has to learn out of this. I know it’s a habit like I said, those guys from London this is the way they speak.”

Opoku recently committed to play international football for Ghana and made his debut in Ghana’s loss to
USA in 2023.
