National Security operatives, in collaboration with the police and military, have apprehended a Nigerian businessman named Ben Peters at the Aurora Apartments in Kanda, close to the Jubilee House.
The operation was spearheaded by Richard Jakpa, Director of Special Operations at the National Security Secretariat, and Mustapha Gbande, the Deputy Director of Operations at the Presidency.
Together with a group of armed men, Peters allegedly blocked the entrance to the residential complex with his vehicles, preventing other residents from accessing their homes.
As a result, the police detained Peters and several of his associates while the national security team seized his vehicles.
Mustapha Gbande, reacting to the situation, said, “He has blocked the place such that no individual can go in or come out.
“Nobody can come into our country and take our people into this ransom. It is illegal and unlawful. This cannot be done in Nigeria and certainly not in this country”.
Initially, Peters attempted to evade the arrest until the intervention of the president’s brother, Ibrahim Mahama, who assisted the security forces in successfully apprehending him.
