‘It’s a small matter’ says man who attempted to defile 8-year old

A security guard accused of indecently assaulting an eight-year-old girl trivialised the issue when he allegedly told the mother of the victim that the incident is a “small matter.”

William Adomako allegedly kissed the girl, removed her panties, and tried touching her inappropriately till she broke free and ran to her sister who was then taking a shower.

When the victim’s mother entered the witness box, she said the accused person didn’t think he did anything wrong.

“You tore my daughter’s panties, and when l confronted you, your initial statement was that ‘this small matter too,” she said, pointing accusing fingers at the accused.

Recounting what happened, she said she left the house at 6:30 am only to be called on the phone by her first child on happenings back home.

“I missed a call from my daughter at 8:30 am, but I couldn’t call her back at the exact time because I was busy. I called back, and my daughter was crying.

“She said that the security man had done what I told her to report to me when somebody does it to her. Immediately, my heart skipped a beat because I knew what that statement meant. Out of shock, I dropped the phone.

“I then called the house help and asked her where she was when the incident happened,” the complainant said.

I didn’t do it

At this point, the accused person who sat with a pensive face held his head in one hand.

When he took his turn in the dock, William Adomako said he was not guilty of what the complainant accused him of.

“I don’t know why the girl’s sister is lying to the court. I have not done anything,” he said before breaking into tears.

“Because I don’t have anyone to speak, help or defend me, this is what will happen to me. I don’t have anybody that is why they are doing that to me,” he told the court presided over by Christiana Cann.

Victim’s elder sister

The elder sister of the victim, now 14 years, also told the court her version of what happened on the said day.

“I was at the bathroom and when I came out the security man was with my sister [Sister’s name withheld]. She later came running and shouted, ‘do you know what happened today.’’’
