Interior Ministry renews Alavanyo-Nkonya curfew hours
The Ministry of Interior has renewed the curfew hours that has been imposed on Alavanyo and Nkonya communities and surrounding towns in the Oti Region.
A statement released Friday signed by Interior Minister, Ambrose Dery observed the Ministry has by an Executive Instrument (E.I.) renewed the curfew hours in the affected communities from 6.00 pm to 6.00 am.
The effective date of the curfew, the statement directed was Sunday, August 11, 2019.
The statement warned it was unlawful for persons in the two towns to carry offensive weapons and others and that anyone found to have gone contrary to the directive would be arrested and made to face the law.

IMPOSITION OF CURFEW ON ALAVANYO AND NKONYA TOWNSHIPS IN THE OTI REGION
The Minister for the Interior has by Executive Instrument renewed the Curfew hours imposed on Alavanyo and Nkonya Townships and their environs in the Oti Region from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am effective Sunday, 11th August, 2019.
Government continues to express its appreciation to the Chiefs, Elders, Opinion Leaders, Youth and people of the area for their efforts in ensuring peace in the area and urges them to use the established mechanisms for the resolution of all their conflicts and disputes.
Meanwhile, Government will like to reiterate that, there is a ban on all persons in the two towns and their environs from carrying arms, ammunition or any offensive weapons, and any person found with any arms or ammunition will be arrested and prosecuted.
