The Ministry of the Interior has declared Monday, March 31 and Tuesday, April 1, 2025, as public holidays.

In a statement signed by the Interior Minister, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak on March 22, the holidays are to mark the Eid-ul-Fitr celebration.

The statement explained that Eid-ul-Fitr, which falls on Sunday, March 30, is a statutory public holiday.

However,  President John Mahama, by an Executive Instrument (E.I), in accordance with Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act (Act 601), has declared Monday, March 31, and Tuesday, April 1, as additional public holidays.

This comes after the President announced earlier that an extra public holiday will be observed in honour of the Muslim celebration of Eid ul-Fitr.

This, he said is to allow the Muslim community ample time to fully participate in the celebrations following their 30-day fasting.
