Interior Minister renews curfew in Binduri township

The Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mubarak, has announced the renewal of the curfew imposed on Binduri Township and nearby communities in the Upper East Region.

Effective Monday, September 8, the curfew will be in force daily from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.

This decision follows recommendations from the National Security Council and is legally backed by an Executive Instrument.

The Ministry is calling on chiefs, elders, community leaders, and especially the youth to remain calm and committed to peaceful and non-violent solutions as efforts continue to resolve tensions in the area.

Residents are strongly reminded that the ban on the possession of firearms, ammunition, and other offensive weapons remains in effect.

Additionally, motorbike movement is still restricted, and the wearing of smocks is strictly prohibited within the township and its surrounding areas.

The Ministry has made it clear that anyone found violating these directives will face arrest and prosecution without exception.

These measures are necessary to ensure the safety and security of all residents and to support lasting peace in the region.
