Interior Minister donates vehicles to Ghana police
Ghana’s Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mubarak, has donated 60 pickup vehicles and 20 motorbikes to the Ghana Police Service to enhance security.
The presentation was made on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, as part of ongoing efforts to improve police logistics and strengthen around-the-clock safety for workers and businesses.
The new vehicles were locally assembled by Zonda Tec Ghana Limited.
The Interior Minister noted that supporting local manufacturers not only boosts the economy but ensures a faster and more sustainable supply of logistics to national institutions.
On his official Facebook page, Mr Mubarak also announced the creation of a new specialised unit within the Ghana Police Service. This unit will be dedicated to securing areas and businesses operating beyond standard working hours.
“I announced the creation of a specialised unit within the Ghana Police Service, dedicated to providing round-the-clock security for workers and businesses operating within the 24-hour economy initiative,” he wrote.
The move is part of a broader strategy to ease business operations and ensure that extended working hours do not compromise public safety.
Mr Mubarak encouraged businesses to take full advantage of the initiative but reminded them to comply with existing laws.
Zonda Tec’s Chief Executive Officer, Madam Yang Yang, expressed pride in her company’s involvement.
She said contributing to national security efforts through local vehicle production reflects the growing capability of Ghana’s manufacturing sector.
The Police Service is expected to deploy the new vehicles immediately to support patrols and special operations linked to the 24-hour economy.
