Insurance industry now has 448 chartered practitioners
The Chartered Insurance Institute of Ghana has announced its membership status for the 2021 Educational Conference and Annual General Meeting, which ended at the Rock City Hotel, Kwahu-Nkwatia in the Eastern Region.
The institute says membership has increased since establishment of the Ghana Insurance College. It has also confirmed that its members who have bagged the Associateship and Fellowship have tremendously increased.
So far, members who have attained the ACII Ghana Qualification has now hit 448. This number includes those holding the ACII UK Qualifications. The Associateship qualification from both Ghana and the United Kingdom makes one a professional insurance practitioner.
However, CIIG states that currently, they have about 30 corporate members which are made up of insurance companies including Activa International Insurance Company, Allianz Life Insurance Company, Best Insurance Company, Coronation Insurance Company, Donewell Insurance Company, Enterprise Insurance Company, Enterprise Life, Ghana National Bureau, Glico Life, Glico General, Hollard Insurance Ghana, Hollard Life, Imperial General and Priority Insurance Company.
Others are Metropolitan Insurance Company, MiLife Insurance Company, NSIA Insurance Ghana, Old Mutual Life, Prime Insurance, Provident Insurance, Phoenix Insurance, Quality Insurance, Serene Insurance Company, SIC Life, SIC General, Star Assurance, StarLife, Sunu Assurance, Unique Insurance and Vanguard Assurance.
The rest of the corporate members include Ghana Reinsurance Company, GN Reinsurance Company, Mainstream Reinsurance Company and WAICA Reinsurance Company. In addition to Afro Reinsurance Brokers, All Risk Consultancy, Akoto Risk Management, ARB Insurance Brokers, Arrow Class Brokers, Asterix Brokers, Claim Limited, Edward Mensah Wood & Associates, Boatey & Associates Insurance Brokers Ltd., Family Care Funeral Trust, Fellin Insurance Brokers Ltd., Horizon Insurance Brokers Ltd., Insurance Solution Ltd., KEK Insurance Brokers Ltd., KEK Reinsurance Brokers Ltd., Khols and Hols International Insurance Brokers, Midas Insurance Brokers Ltd., Olea M&G Insurance Brokers Ltd., Safety Insurance Brokers Ltd., Spoton Insurance Brokers Ltd., Tri-Star Insurance Services Ltd., Visal Reinsurance Brokers Ltd. and Willis Towers Watson.
By March 1996, persons who qualified as Associates or Fellows of the Insurance Institute of Ghana were only 86. They included Aboagye Adelaide, who is presently the founder and Managing Director of Prudent Insurance Brokers based in Accra.
Others are Abrokwah George – formerly with Vanguard Assurance Company; Acheampong-Kyei Kwame, founder of Glico Group; Benjamin Acolatse – founder Insurance Centre for Excellence, an insurance broking outfit; Acquosie Samuel, broker; Perry Adamba – former Managing Director Donewell Insurance; and Thomas Addai – formerly of Ghana Union Assurance Company.
