Inflation drops to 9.4% in September 2025

Ghana’s year-on-year inflation dropped sharply to 9.4 percent in September 2025, down from 11.5 percent in August.

This is the lowest rate since August 2021 and marks the ninth consecutive monthly decline.

It also represents the first time in four years that inflation has returned to single digits.

According to the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS), the decline reflects a sustained easing of price pressures, signaling that Ghana may be firmly on the path toward macroeconomic stability.

The Government Statistician, Dr. Alhassan Iddrisu, explained that the consistent fall shows that the forces driving inflation in recent months are weakening.

Food inflation fell to 11.0 percent in September from 14.8 percent in August, while non-food inflation eased slightly to 8.2 percent from 8.7 percent.

Prices of locally produced items dropped to 10.1 percent in September compared to 12.2 percent in August, and imported goods also saw inflation fall to 7.4 percent from 9.5 percent over the same period.

At the regional level, disparities remain significant.

The North East Region recorded the highest inflation at 20.1 percent, more than double the national average, while the Bono East Region posted the lowest at just 1.2 percent.
