In-form attacker Daniel Kofi Kyereh might miss the Black Stars game against Nigeria tonight after missing training on Thursday.
Kyereh missed training over a suspected thigh injury he picked up at the team’s training session on Wednesday ahead of the crucial playoff.
The German-based attacker has scored 11 goals and assisted 10 this season for St Pauli, who are pushing for Bundesliga promotion.
His absence could affect the Black Stars’ chances against a star-studded Nigeria side aiming for a massive upset in Kumasi.
This will be the second injury upset to the team after midfielder Edmond Addo had to leave camp after failing to recover from an injury he is suspected to have picked up in his final club fixture before joining camp.
Reports suggest that the Moldova-based player has since returned to his club, FC Sheriff.
Twenty-five players were at training yesterday, including Mohammed Kudus and Thomas Partey.
Jordan Ayew also arrived in the country on Thursday morning after recovering from a coronavirus infection.
There was a massive turnout by fans who sang and danced to cheer the national team as they held the day’s training session.
The team also had a brief moment with the Youth and Sports Minister, Mustapha Ussif, and GFA President Kurt Okraku.
The Black Stars are hoping for a resounding first-leg victory on Friday night to increase their chances of qualification going into the reverse fixture in Abuja on Tuesday.
