Immigration officer promoted for saving schoolgirl from suspected kidnappers
Assistant Immigration Control Officer II Emmanuel Ofosu-Acheampong has been promoted to the rank of Assistant Immigration Control Officer I (AICO I) for an act of bravery.
The Comptroller-General of the Ghana Immigration Service(GIS), Mr Kwame Asuah Takyi promoted the officer on behalf of the National Immigration Management Committee for his timely intervention in saving a school girl from suspected kidnappers.
In June 2023, AICO I Ofosu-Acheampong, stationed at the Kasoa Command of the GIS followed his instincts and prevented the kidnapping of a young female student along the Nsawam-Amasaman highway while riding public transport (Trotro) from Nsawam to Dome.
In a statement signed by the Head of Public Affairs, Chief Superintendent Amoako Atta, the Comptroller praised the brave officer for his vigilance, swift response and overall professionalism.
“Notwithstanding the risks involved on a busy road, the Officer, AICO I Emmanuel Ofosu-Acheampong acted responsibly and timely, garnering commendation from the public, security experts and opinion leaders nationwide,” the statement said.
Mr Asuah Takyi also advised the officer to be emboldened by the promotion and continue to be disciplined.
“Don’t let this elevation get into your head and become arrogant but rather be humbled and continue to be a worthy ambassador of the Service,” he advised.
AICO I Ofosu-Acheampong was also awarded a plaque, certificate, and citation in recognition of his act of heroism.
