I’m too shy for stand-up comedy – Clemento Suarez

Sensational comic actor, Clement Ashiteye, says he is too shy to mount a stage.

The actor, arguably the best in the industry, says stand-up comedy requires one to be confident, something he lacks.

“I am too shy for standup comedy; I am a very laid-back person”

Explaining how he is able to act in movies but won’t try standup comedy, the actor popularly known as Clemento Suarez, said he acts better in dialogues.

“Almost in movies or comedy skit I do it with people but my fear for stand-up comedy is what if my audience don’t laugh, that is my greatest fear” he added.

Albeit, the actor says he may try standup comedy to kill his fears.

“I might try my hands on it, maybe when I have gathered enough courage,” He told Delay in an interview.

He, however, encourages the patronage of Ghanaian comedy shows.

He says the only way stand-up comedians will get better and meet international standards is when their shows and events are patronised and criticisms fairly made.

Clemento Suarez is known for his comedy skits, popular among them is the corona ABCD.

He was recently crowned the king of Ghanaian comedy by telecommunication giant MTN.

Suarez won the title ahead of colleague comic actors Lawyer Nti, DKB, and OB Amponsah.
