I’m heartbroken by the evil of galamsey – Adjetey Anang
Renowned Ghanaian actor, Adjetey Anang, has expressed deep concern over the devastating impact of galamsey on the country’s water bodies.
In a recent interview, Adjetey emphasized the need for drastic measures to combat the menace, citing the risk to numerous lives.
The actor confessed that seeing the ravaged water bodies in galamsey-prone areas filled him with despair and heartbroken, and endorses any initiative seeking to combat the destructive practice.
“I support these causes in making sure that we arrest this case so that lives are saved…I support all these calls in drawing attention to the ills of society and governance for us to sit up.
“It is time for us to make noise and keep making noise about this because our lives are at stake at this moment and what we are prioritising over our health and future is neither here nor there,” he said.
Adjetey Anang pointed out that demonstrations against galamsey activities should be conducted within the bounds of the law.
Essentially, he’s advocating for peaceful and lawful protests to express discontent with the devastating environmental and social impacts of galamsey.
This approach, he believes, ensures that the message is conveyed without compromising public safety or infringing on legal standards.
