Rapper Sarkodie has said his primary focus in the music industry is how to make his brand appeal to global audience.

Sarkodie, being one of Africa’s most honored artiste, says building a solid brand that is recognized globally is the focus.

Speaking at the 2019 edition of the Music in Africa Conference for Collaboration, Exchange and Showcases (ACCES 2019), Sarkodie stressed, “I don’t have to compete as an artist now. My strategy has been to build my brand, following and everything Sarkodie till today.”

The ‘Saara’ hit maker also had some advice for artistes, particularly, up and coming musicians, at the event held in Accra, Ghana.

He cautioned them to identify their niche market and focus on getting their songs to them in order to maximize returns instead of focusing on airplay.

“Crowdsource the people who need your music most, don’t focus on getting your music on radio” the record-breaking musician averred.

The event took place from November 28 to November 30,2019.

Speakers include Claude Grunitzky (Founder TRUE Africa, Togo, UK), Oye Akideinde (Simfy OTT, Nigeria), Aibee Abidoye (Chocolate City, Nigeria), Elizabeth Ntiamoah (Boomplay, Ghana), and Mark Levine (USA).

ACCES is a pan-African trade event for music industry players to exchange ideas, discover new talent and create business linkages. ACCES is held in a different African city every year, attracting active music industry players from across the globe.

ACCES is organized by the Music In Africa Foundation, a non-profit and pan-African organisation, in partnership and with the support of Siemens Stiftung, Goethe-Institute, Reeperbahn Festival International, Alliance Française, BMG, MediaSound Hamburg, the Multimedia Group, Africa Art Lines, Afrikayna, the Gold Coast Hub, the Year of Return, the Prince Claus Fund and the ANT Mobility Grant from Pro Helvetia Johannesburg, financed by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).
