I’m broke, film doesn’t pay much – Nollywood star Bimbo Akintola

Actress and media personality, Bimbo Akintola, has shed light on the financial disparities among her colleagues, expressing curiosity about the lavish lifestyles of some actresses.

Akintola, in an interview, admitted she isn’t financially buoyant and often wonders how her colleagues fund their luxurious lifestyles, given the modest earnings from film sales.

She attributed their wealth to alternative sources, including family wealth, business ventures, and romantic relationships with influential individuals.

“Some of the lifestyles we see on social media can be real, and if it’s real, where does it come from? People come up to me and say, look at those actresses. They are very rich, and I tell them that I am not rich.

“When you see them, ask them what they do because we know how much they sell films. From a lot of actresses I see, I don’t know if it’s from their rich homes or if there are other businesses they’re doing.

“We have heard about actresses dating politicians and all of that, and we know things like that truly happen”, she said.
