Defence Minister nominee Dr. Edward Omane Boamah has pledged to ensure regional balance in military recruitments, emphasising fairness and inclusivity within the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF).

Appearing before the Appointments Committee on Tuesday, January 28, Dr. Omane Boamah stated his commitment to equity and the need for the military to reflect Ghana’s diverse population.

“I firmly believe that the military must embody the diversity of our nation,” he declared.

“Every region must have equal opportunities to serve, fostering unity and strengthening cohesion across the country.”

He stressed that an inclusive recruitment process would enhance the GAF’s effectiveness and reinforce national integration.

“When recruitment is balanced across all regions, we are not just building a capable army; we are promoting national unity and ensuring that every part of the country feels represented in safeguarding our collective security,” he explained.

Dr. Omane Boamah assured the committee that addressing regional disparities in recruitment would be a top priority if confirmed.

“I am committed to ensuring that no region is left behind. The military should stand as a true reflection of Ghana’s rich diversity,” he concluded.
