I’ll be vindicated – Suspended NDC parliamentary candidate

Nurein Shiabu Migyimah, the suspended Assin Central parliamentary candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has denied the allegations of immoral acts and anti-party conduct against him.

Based on moral grounds, the Central Regional NDC secretariat announced his withdrawal as their representative for the December polls on Friday, June 28, 2024.

Speaking to the media after the announcement, Mr Migyimah is confident that he would be cleared of all allegations after the Regional Disciplinary Committee adjudicates the matter.

He also expressed optimism towards the 2024 general elections.

“l believe, and I know whatever allegation, anything they’ve said or whatever it is, after I go through the right party structures, I’ll be vindicated. God being so good, God willing, ‘Inshallah’, on December 7, I’m going to win the election,” he said.

However, he said he’s yet to officially receive the document that would have explained the offence in detail. He insists that he did not engage in “immoral acts and anti-party conduct” as alleged by the Central Regional branch of the party.

Meanwhile, he further urged his supporters in the constituency to stay calm as the party takes steps to solve the issue.

In a letter to the Central Regional Chairman of the NDC, the party said the decision was based on Mr Migyimah’s immoral acts and anti-party conduct.

It said the NDC’s Central Regional Functional Executive Committee investigated reports of the parliamentary candidate’s behaviour.

“The Regional Functional Executive Committee, after conducting its preliminary investigation and examining the matter minutely and exhaustively, further consulted key stakeholders in the region and the leadership of the Party at the National level resolved that Nurein Shaibu Migyimah be withdrawn as the 2024 Assin Central Parliamentary Candidate of the NDC with immediate effect,” the letter said.

The party has also suspended Mr Migyimah for six months pending the matter’s adjudication at the Regional Disciplinary Committee.
