The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has called on the youth of Bawku to embrace a lasting peace in the township.
The IGP also assured the youth of priority in police recruitment as part of efforts to restore calm in the conflict-dominated area.
According to IGP Yohuno, a special recruitment team would be deployed to Bawku to provide job opportunities for the youth.
The IGP made this pledge while addressing the people of Bawku on Friday, April 11, 2025.
“When it comes to recruitment, we will give the people of Bawku priority. We will give the youth of Bawku priority, and so, a special team will come here to do special recruitment for the youth of Bawku,” he stated.

The IGP further expressed his willingness to work closely with the residents of Bawku and urged them to highlight any grievances or mistakes made by the police.
“I know how hardworking people from this area are. So we are pleading with you—just let us know where we are going wrong so we can quickly correct those things and make sure that you continue to work with our people diligently.
“Where, by mistake, we have done something wrong, forgive us. We won’t repeat those things again,” he further noted.
