Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has formalised a directive by its Board Chair to ignore “order from above” instructions from superior officers at Tema Port.
Terminal Heads and Examinations Officers at the Tema Port have been warned in a sternly-worded letter not to take instructions from senior officers of other state agencies operating at the port.
The directive, which was contained in an internal memo cited by Joy Business, directed that any such instructions in the form of “order from above” should be ignored and immediately reported to the Sector Commander of Customs, Joseph Adu-Kyei.
Mr Adu-Kyei will subsequently report the matter to the Commissioner of GRA who will, in turn, inform the Board Chairman, Prof. Stephen Adei, for immediate action.
The statement further admonished the officers at the ports to be circumspect and comply.
