I Wish She Was Dead
I hope my identity can be kept a secret as I share this information. I am on the verge of cutting ties with my only living relative and I need your readers’ advice.
I live with my aunt who has lost her sight and hearing. I remember that when I was young, my aunt lived with me and my parents. She was fun to be with and was my mentor when I was growing up.
Later in life, she suffered a stroke and subsequently got worse as time went on. I am now married with two children and live with my aunt and my husband but things are getting more difficult now.
After my parents passed away, I also took in my aunt in addition to raising a family and it’s not been plain sailing. See, the needs of someone who is disabled like my aunt are not easy to meet.
For someone who can’t see or hear, I have to pay for therapy to help her communicate better and because of the stroke, her speech has gotten worse so we don’t know what she’s saying sometimes.
She can defecate on herself sometimes and even my kids don’t do that and they are 3 and 4 years. I need a maid also to stay at home with her the whole day while we are at work. About a month ago, my aunt started getting violent.
She lashed out as she was being fed and scratched my little boy. I was so angry but also sad because she is family and couldn’t just leave her on the street to fend for herself.
However, I have been thinking about doing exactly that these days. The economy is hard I know she is my family but I can’t feed an extra mouth especially with her becoming violent.
She can’t talk, she can’t do anything to contribute to the progress of my family and she’s taking up space and draining my account with all that I do for her.
It’s putting pressure on my finances and my marriage because the children used to love her but now they’re scared of auntie and calling her ” Kakai”.
I think it’s time to dump her at some facility. I don’t think there’s anything I can do to help her now. Sometimes I wish she was even dead so we could Hvae our peace of mind. Am I a bad person? What would you do If you were in my situation? I need advice to help me fix my broken pen.
