The Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has reaffirmed his steadfast dedication to guiding the party back to power in the upcoming 2028 general elections.
Dr. Bawumia made this commitment during a visit from several party delegates at his private residence, where they expressed their support and confidence in his leadership on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.
“You have saved the party by your action. Because the message is gone and in 2028, they cannot use the same message against us; it will rather give us strength,” he remarked.
He vowed to fully devote himself to the party’s mission.
“I want to assure you that because you have imposed your confidence in me, I will work at all times to ensure that we win power in 2028. I will not sleep. I will work day and night to ensure that I bring the power to the NPP,” Dr. Bawumia declared.
The former Vice President emphasised that unity within the party is crucial for electoral success, pointing out that the NPP possesses the numerical advantage to overcome the National Democratic Congress (NDC) if members unite behind a shared agenda.
“When you look at the data, we have more numbers than the NDC, and so all we need is unity. In 2024, our members didn’t vote. So, if we are able to bring everybody on board, we can win,” he stated.
Describing the party’s initiatives as entering a new phase, Dr. Bawumia urged supporters to stay committed and actively engage in the rebuilding efforts.
“Our task is clear. At this time, we are moving to phase two. So I want to plead with you all to assist us in this fight,” he added.
