Retired Commissioner of Police George Alex Mensah has expressed confidence in securing victory in the New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary primary for the Bekwai constituency.

The seat is occupied by the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Joseph Osei-Owusu, who has decided not to seek re-election in the upcoming NPP primaries.

Speaking after successfully going through the vetting process, COP George Alex Mensah said he is targeting to secure 60 per cent of the votes in the upcoming primaries.

“I am going to bring unity to the party because we have to break the eight, and it is only unity that will help us break the eight, and that is what I am going to do. I am going to do everything that I have to do to bring improvement to the community.

“With the per cent that I am going to get, it should be more than 60 per cent,” he said on Citi News.

He is competing against Raph Poku-Adusei, Kingsley Opoku Agyemang, and Henry Opoku-Ware, who are also optimistic about winning the primaries.
