Former Minister of Environment, Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, has said that he will speak the truth, no matter the circumstances.

Prof. Frimpong-Boateng disclosed this while speaking at a breakfast meeting hosted by the Full Gospel Bussines Men’s Fellowship to mark their 40th anniversary in the Ashanti Region.

He said even if a few Christians in Ghana will stand up and speak the truth wherever they are, the country will change for the better.

“I will be part of that. I will speak the truth and face the consequences. These are the things that make me who I am, standing for God,” he insisted.

The former minister also warned persons destroying Ghana’s lands, forests, and water bodies.

Citing scriptures, Prof Frimpong-Boateng said the wrath of God would come upon individuals who are destroying the habitats of other living creatures.

“Revelations 11:18 says the nations are angry because your wrath has come. The time has come for you to punish the dead and to reward your servants, the prophets and saints who revere your name.

“The last line is, ‘and to punish those who destroy the earth’. That is what God says. He will destroy people who destroy the earth,” he said.

The former minister added: “We must understand that we are not alone on earth when destroying the environment”.

To support his point, he described how destroying one tree causes a significant ecological imbalance and disrupts a symbiotic chain of natural habitats and organisms created out of God’s infinite wisdom.

“When we take machines into the forest, pull down trees; there may be a dozen birds with their nests there as their home. They will not survive, and God is not happy with that.

“When was the last time you saw a vulture in Ghana? Vultures need tall trees, and if you destroy their habitats, their food, and sources of water, they will die,” he stressed.

Prof. Frimpong-Boateng has been in the news recently after a report he authored on illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey, was leaked to the media.

The report revealed the alleged involvement of politicians and influential people in government, the media, and the presidency. This sparked controversy in power corridors.

The former chairperson of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM) was also arrested by the Special Prosecutor as part of the ongoing investigations into allegations he made about illegal mining.
