I Will Review The Free SHS Policy – Alan Kyerematen
Former presidential aspirant for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, has disclosed that he will review the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy if he is elected President in the 2024 elections.
The now-independent presidential candidate said it is important to review the policy after seven years of implementation.

“I will review Free SHS, we have done it for seven years, You cannot implement a programme for seven years and not review it, so when I come there will be a comprehensive review of the free SHS. The original idea is good and I commend Akufo-Addo for it, but it has to be reviewed,” Mr Kyerematen said.

The former trade minister added that his government will not only ensure that the policy guarantees access to education but also enhance the quality of education in Ghana.
Mr. Kyerematen underscored the need for increased investment in infrastructure, teacher training, and curriculum development.
He stressed the importance of creating a well-rounded education system that prepares students for both academic and practical challenges.
Mr Kyerematen made all these statements in an interview on UTV, which was monitored by The Ghana Report.
Mr Kyerematen announced his decision at a press conference on Monday, September 25, citing mistreatment from the NPP.
“I wish to use this platform to announce that I am honourably resigning with immediate effect from the New Patriotic Party to contest for the high office of the President of the Republic of Ghana in the 2024 General Elections as an Independent Presidential Candidate,” he said at a press conference on Monday, September 25.

Mr Kyerematen stated that his intention to go independent will allow him to lead a new movement for change in Ghana that will benefit the citizens, especially the youth.
