I will prioritise peace and unity in Nkwanta South, says MCE

The municipal chief executive for Nkwanta South in the Oti Region, Felix Owusu Gyimah, has promised to prioritise peace and unity within the municipality.

Speaking during his confirmation in the Nkwanta South Assembly, Gyimah said it is crucial to address the root causes of the conflict and work towards inclusive development to end the conflict for peaceful cohesion and existence.

He said there is a need for inclusive social justice to enable every citizen to feel respected and valued.
He applauded the security council and other stakeholders for ensuring peace in the area.

“I shall ensure that the peace and unity of the area continue to forge a lasting solution to the tribal conflict,” he pledged

On his part, the MP for Nkwanta South, Geoffrey Kini, called on the MCE and the government to consider fixing the deplorable roads in the constituency to end the suffering of commuters and traders.

Kini urged the Interior Ministry to set up a peace committee to probe the Nkwanta South conflict to bring lasting peace to the area.

Out of 42 assembly members, the presidential nominee, Felix Owusu Gyimah, pulled 38 votes, representing 90.52%.

In recent times, Nkwanta and its environs have witnessed tribal conflicts resulting in the loss of lives and properties.
