Former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan who is working on staging a return to active football, has hinted at joining the current Ghana Premier League Champions, Kumasi Asante Kotoko, once he regains full fitness.
Gyan, a Kotoko fan, joined Legon Cities, formerly Wa All Stars, in the 2020/2021 Ghana Premier League season, despite reports about him receiving an offer from the Porcupine Warriors.
According to the 36-year-old, his decision to choose The Royals over Kotoko was his unwillingness to relocate from the capital city, Accra, but he has stated his desire to play for Kotoko soon.
“I have been an Accra boy. I didn’t want to move to another city and then Legon Cities contacted me. Although I was talking to Kotoko, I had wanted to be in Accra,” he said on the Dentaa Show.
“When I get fit and start playing competitive football, obviously I will play for Kotoko.”
Gyan, Ghana’s all-time leading scorer, has also expressed his desire to return to the Black Stars squad ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and has begun training to get in shape.
