I will not kill to become president – Muntaka

The MP for Asawase Ibrahim Muntaka Mubarak has disclosed the limit he could go to become president of the nation.

The deposed minority chief whip has ambitions to become the president of the country but was quick to add that he cannot take another person’s life to make his dreams a reality.

“You can’t be a politician and say that as for me the top-notch, I never want it in my life. But it is not something that I’m going to kill somebody to become.

“I have been a politician. I have served very well; I have all the credentials that it takes. I have distinguished myself to the best that I can, and I want to believe that if the opportunity avails itself, why not? I will. I will be a contender, and I will do that forcefully,” he said.

Alhaji Muntaka was speaking in an interview on Joy News, monitored by The Ghana Report.

He was of the view that politicians must aim for the top, and so being president in the future will crown his career in politics.

Former President John Dramani Mahama recently won the bid to be the flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2024 polls.

Commenting on the possible running mate for the party, the experienced legislator said an Akan would be preferable to partner with former President Mahama.

Alhaji Muntaka believes that the recent change in the minority hierarchy in parliament was an agenda to remove him from leadership.

However, he says he has put that behind him and will continue to serve the NDC and his constituents to the best of his abilities.
