President Akufo-Addo has denied writing a letter to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress(APC) nominee in the 2023 Nigerian presidential election, over Peter Obi’s candidature.
Refuting the claims on his official Twitter handle on Tuesday, August 9, President Akufo-Addo said his attention had been drawn to a post making rounds on social media which claimed that he advised the presidential candidate of the APC, to give his Labour Party counterpart, Peter Obi, a chance.
He labelled the post as “completely false and mischievous, with no iota of truth whatsoever in it”.
“My attention has been drawn to a disturbing post making the rounds on social media, where it is alleged I have written to the 2023 presidential candidate of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, to give Peter Obi a chance and seek treatment for his health,” he wrote.
The President further stressed that he had written no such letter and would never think of doing so.
President Nana Akufo-Addo stated emphatically that he will not interfere in the internal political affairs of Nigeria.
“Ghana and Nigeria boast of decades of cordial, strong, and brotherly relations, and I am not going to be the one to interfere in the internal affairs and politics of Nigeria,” he added.
Tinubu faces off with Peter Obi of the Labour Party(LP) and Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party(PDP) in Nigeria’s 2023 general elections.
