“I will never forget”- Andre Ayew pens message to Marseille fans after warm reception

Andre Ayew has penned a heartwarming message to fans of Olympique Marseille following the reception he received while on league duty with Le Havre at the Stade Velodrome. 

The veteran attacking midfielder returned to his boyhood club for the first time this season with hopes of helping Le Havre pick at least a point at Marseille.

However, the Ligue 1 strugglers were brushed aside by the French giants with the Ghanaian netting against his former club. Ayew refused to celebrate his goal as a sign of respect to the club.

After the game, he took to social media to express his gratitude to Marseille and the fans following the ovation he received while coming off in the 88th minute of the match.

Evening full of emotions and reunions, thanks to the people of Marseille for the welcome and this moment that will stay in my heart. I will never forget it,” he posted.

Meanwhile, Ayew also expressed disappointment by the defeat and urged Le Havre fans, the players will not give up on their quest for survival.

“Not easy to lose the first game of the year.. thank you to the supporters who would have been there with us. We’re not going to give up and fight the marathon continues Le Havre,” he added.
