I will never advertise alcoholic, bleaching products – Nana Ama Mcbrown
Ghanaian actress, Nana Ama Mcbrown, has revealed why she does not want her brand associated with certain products.
The actress says she does not want to be associated with any alcoholic products or bleaching creams because of the influence she has on young people.
In an interview on Citi TV, monitored by theghanareport.com, the actress said: “growing and sustaining a good brand is very important for business, as it may open other opportunities for you and that is why I do not endorse certain products….”
The versatile actress said her decision to stay off alcoholic products and bleaching creams is one she made at the early stages of her career.
“As I speak, I’ve said I won’t do alcohol or any bleaching creams. These two, in my calendrer, whatever brand, whatever money you want to pay Nana Ama Mcbrown, I won’t do it. Aside from that, I’ll market anything …I have stamped it” she said.
In 2015, the Food and Drugs Authority, as part of efforts to ensure minors are protected from alcoholism, banned Ghanaian celebrities from advertising alcoholic beverages. This is in adherence to a World Health Organization (WHO) policy.
After the ban, a lot of celebrities called on the authority to review its decision because they are losing endorsement deals
Singer Wendy Shay earlier this year fumed at the authority for making her lose a deal
“I just lost a deal worth 1000s ‘of dollars with this foreign alcohol company. I didn’t know in GH Celebrities can’t advertise for alcoholic beverages according to the FDA. Like Seriously?! Small food we go chop too u wan take 4rm our mouth. Gh celebs wake up !!FDA Lift dat ban!!,” She said.

Commenting on the ban, Nana Ama Mcbrown said, even if the ban is lifted, she will not endorse any alcoholic brand
“I don’t think I belong to that fight, because even if they left the ban, I will still not endorse any alcoholic brand or bleaching cream” she stressed.
