I was not paid for acting in Efiewura TV Series – Jimmy Quist

Media personality and actor Jimmy Quist has made an astonishing revelation that he was not paid for acting in the popular Efiewura TV series.

Efiewura was a popular Ghanaian television sitcom that aired on Ghanaian television screen, in the Akan language. The series focused on how landlords treat tenants and the relationship that exists between tenants.

It started in 2001 and is regarded as one of the longest-running shows in the country. The cast of the show included late veteran actor Santo, Araba Stamp, Koofori, Gloria Sarfo, Auntie B, Kwame Dzokoto, Joojo Robertson and Jimmy Quits.

According to him “Efiewura came out because when Okraku Mantey had produced Daasebre Dwamena I think there was a fall out somewhere so I went visit Okraku Mantey and there was the director there and I offered to be part of the series Voluntarily”.

“I was actively in Efiewura for 13 years …from 2002 till 2014… I wasn’t getting paid..they were only paying the professionals… Those of us with cars were given something for fuel”

He was quick to affirm that, “They only gave allowance…I wanted to do it because it was my friend’s thing…Koofori was at Radio Gold and I was at Joy so we used our platform to propel Efiewura to get popular”.
