I spent GH¢8K for my wedding – Wode Maya

Contrary to current trends of rich and affluent wedding ceremonies by celebrities in Ghana and around the world, popular Ghanaian YouTuber Berthold Kobby Winkler Ackon (Wode Maya) chose to do otherwise.

Speaking about his marriage to his Kenyan girlfriend, Gertrude Awino Njeri, popularly known as Miss Trudy, who is also a well-established YouTuber, Wode Maya said he spent GH¢8,516.60 (KSh 100,000) on their wedding ceremony.

After almost four years of an exciting relationship, both decided to take the plunge on 10 September 2022 in a simple wedding at the Kenyan Youtuber’s hometown in western Kenya.

In a heartening video spotted on Wode Maya’s Youtube channel, he was seen paying his wife’s dowry –  a goat and a cow – as Kenyan custom demands while being accompanied by his family.

A Ghanaian pastor officiated the ceremony.

The lovebirds, popularly known as TruMaya, were gifted a two-bedroom and one-bedroom apartment by a Kenyan real estate owner.

Wode Maya revealed that his wife’s ring was costly, disclosing that a local businesswoman and friend paid for the ring.

Miss Trudy also disclosed that she is scared to walk on the streets of Nairobi because of how expensive her ring is;

“My ring is so expensive. I’m scared of walking with it in the streets of Nairobi,” Trudy said.

Wode Maya is one of the wealthiest YouTubers in Ghana, with over 1 million subscribers on his channel.
