Ghanaian legendary highlife musician Kojo Antwi has averred that he releases new songs purposely to please fans and not to win awards.
According to the veteran artiste, it has never occurred to him to release any song with the mentality of winning any award but always has his fans in mind.
Kojo Antwi claims when it comes to special characters in his music, his wife (Rocklyn), his late father, his mother and the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II are the only people who come to mind.
The ‘Bɔme Nkomo Dɛ’ hitmaker, speaking on why he has not won any award at the Grammy emphasized that he does not do music for awards.
“I sing for my fans and not for awards”.
“In my music career, I have sung using the names of four persons namely my wife (Rocklyn), my father, my mother and Otumfuo Osei Tutu II,” he noted in an interview monitored by The Ghana Report on UTV.
“I have been married to my wife for over thirty years and the song Rocklyn was more or less like a professing my love her love,” he disclosed.
Speaking on his businesses, he said he doesn’t only do music for a living as he has oil and a media firm currently running as side income businesses.
He also noted that very soon he will open an event centre at McCarthy Hilltop.
Kojo Antwi advised artistes in the industry to create other sources of income in other not to be handicapped at a point in their careers.
