I promise to do my best to justify your faith in me- Dzifa Gomashie pledges
The Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts designate, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has expressed her gratitude and humility following her nomination by the president.
In a recent post on her Facebook page, she expressed her gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama, the Vice-President and her team for the honour, acknowledging the numerous congratulatory messages she received from industry players and well-wishers.
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Ketu South vowed to uphold the trust bestowed upon her by embracing a comprehensive strategy that showcases Ghana’s vibrant cultural legacy, boosts tourism and celebrates artistic expression.
She wrote, “Dear all, please help me thank H.E. JDM, our Vice-President and the team for this honour. I am truly, humbled.
“Over the past few days, I have received numerous calls and messages following my nomination as Minister Designate for the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts.
I am deeply grateful to everyone for the heartfelt congratulations and well-wishes, especially from the industry players…”
On Thursday, January 16, 2025, President John Dramani Mahama appointed Abla Dzifa Gomashie, Member of Parliament for the Ketu South Constituency, as the Minister-designate for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts.
Dzifa Gomashie’s name had come up as a popular choice for the position, for which her naming by the President was widely hailed by creative players.
Music producer Fred Kyei Mensah and actor and CEO of Image Bureau George Quaye had tipped Dzifa as the best candidate for the position.
Other notable names such as Baba Sadiq had equally come up for the role during debates before the nomination last Thursday.
Abla Dzifa Gomashie is a veteran actress, accomplished politician and creative arts expert with a distinguished track record spanning advocacy, youth leadership and cultural promotion.
With decades of experience in the creative industry, she brings a wealth of knowledge to her new role having previously served as Deputy Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts from 2013 to 2017.
She is due for vetting on Wednesday, January 22, 2025.
