I parted ways with Ghana FA on a good note – Nora Hauptle
Nora Hauptle has revealed that her departure as Black Queens head coach ended on good terms, after failing to reach an agreement on a contract renewal with the Ghana Football Association.
Her exit had been anticipated, as reports had surfaced weeks earlier regarding her potential departure.
In her one year in charge, the Swiss coach successfully turned the fortunes of the Black Queens around, guiding them to their first Women’s Africa Cup of Nations qualification since 2018.
Despite calls for her to remain, Hauptle explained that critical factors necessary for the team’s success were missing.
While the Ghana Football Association cited disagreements over remuneration, the 41-year-old coach stated that she couldn’t continue because essential elements were lacking.
“It wasn’t easy to give up the project,” Hauptle told 20 Minutes, a Swiss media outlet.
“My contract was running out at the end of the year and we had discussions. But there were a few pieces of the puzzle that were not clear, which were relevant to my success.
“I can’t just make compromises but nothing happened; we are parting on good terms and with a lot of respect for each other.”
Following her departure, she has taken on the role of head coach for Zambia, where she will lead the Copper Queens in this year’s WAFCON.
