‘I hope both Ghana and Sudan qualify for the 2025 AFCON’ – Kwasi Appiah
Head coach of the Sudan senior national team, James Kwasi Appiah, says he hopes to see his side qualify alongside Ghana for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Currently sitting second and third respectively in Group F, Sudan face Ghana in a doubleheader in the qualifiers of the tournament to be played in Morocco next year.
The Black Stars play home on Thursday, October 11, before travelling to Libya for the return leg five days later.
Ahead of the fixture, Appaih is hopeful of a place in the competition for his current employers and his former employers.
“I hope both Ghana and Sudan qualify for the 2025 AFCON,” he told Asempa FM. “We just have to pray and hope that we all achieve our goal.”
While the AFCON qualifiers is the imminent assignment, Appiah, whose side are unbeaten in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, says he aims to take the Falcons of Jediane to the global stage.
“My topmost priority is to qualify Sudan for the 2026 World Cup,” he added.
“Sudan have not been there before but I am hoping God uses me as a medium to achieve that.”
Sudan arrived in Ghana on Monday, October 7, to commence their preparations for the two games.
