‘I have evidence’ – Defeated Tangoba says Kofi Adda campaigned against her
NPP parliamentary candidate for Navrongo Central, Paulina Patience Tangoba Abagaye, has said the man she defeated during the party’s primaries contributed to her defeat at the 2020 polls.
Ms. Tangoba Abagaye was referring to the Aviation minister and outgoing NPP MP Kofi Adda who lost by 41 votes to Patience Tangoba Abagaye who is also Upper East regional minister.
But as Joseph Koffi Adda leaves the stage, the swing constituency has now fallen to the National Democratic Congress candidate, Mr. Sampson Tangombu Chiragia.
In an interview on JoyNews, monitored by theghanareport.com, Tangoba said her internal party rival, Kofi Adda ‘vigorously’ campaigned against him, offering ‘massive’ support to the NDC and PPP candidates.
‘I have concrete evidence that he campaigned against me. He sponsored my opponent,’ she said.
The Upper East regional minister said she would not hold Kofi Adda responsible for her defeat.
She said after defeating the incumbent during the NPP primaries she offered an olive branch to Kofi Adda. ‘I apologised to him’ she revealed her efforts to unite the party behind her campaign for the 2020 parliamentary elections.
Tangoba Abagaye said she had a clear-cut message for the electorate and worked hard in her bid to win the seat.
‘It was a very fierce and spirited campaign’ she said but explained that ultimately ‘the electorates have a mind of their own.’
