I don’t have COVID-19 – Mahama’s Special aide

Special Aide of former President, Joyce Bawa Mogtari, has dismissed reports she has tested positive for COVID-19.

In a Facebook post discounting the reports, Madam Bawa Mugtari said the false news was being circulated by members of the governing New Patriotic Party.

“It’s a lovely Wednesday morning, and there’s still some calm and beautiful air blowing around, thanks to the refreshing and ceiling-shattering news from my boss, John Dramani Mahama.

“As for the NPP propaganda all over that I, Joyce Bawah Mogtari, have tested positive for COVID-19 and in isolation, PLEASE IGNORE it.

“As someone who has been fighting the stigmatisation of recovered persons, I will be the first to announce my status and help in education and advocacy to reduce the stigma,” she said in a statement.

Meanwhile, some government officials, including Senior Minister Yaw Osafo-Maafo have contracted the virus.

Deputy Trade Minister Carlos Ahenkorah resigned from his post after admitting he visited a registration center despite his positive COVID-19 status.

Two government officials have succumbed to the virus. These are the CEO of the Forestry Commission, Sir John, and Mayor for Sekondi-Takoradi.
