‘I can deliver’ – Alex Mould eyes Mahama’s running mate role

The former Chief Executive of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), Alex Mould, has touted himself as the best qualified to be running mate to the opposition National Democratic Congress’ flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama.

According to him, his successes in different sectors of the economy makes him the best candidate to be Vice President to John Mahama if elected into power.

“My pedigree shows that I have managed organisations successfully… if you’re talking about the economy, of course, I can deliver. If you’re talking about energy, I can deliver. If you are talking about any area whether its trade, industry, I can deliver.”

A section of the public have praised Ghana’s current Vice President, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia for his economic prowess. These comments have highlighted the need for the largest opposition party, NDC to present a running mate who is capable of matching up to Dr. Bawumia.

But speaking in an interview on JoyNews, Alex Mould believed he was the right person to match the current Vice President if given the nod to partner John Mahama in the 2020 presidential elections.

“The flagbearer has to work with the Functional Executives of the party in consultation with the elders and come up with a criteria. If they call me and nominate me and I pass the criteria, I definitely will accept it,” he said.

Apart from Alex Mould, other names have been tipped as the possible running mates to the NDC flagbearer.

Former Finance Ministers Dr. Kwesi Botchway and Dr. Kwabena Duffuor are among the big names who have been rumored to be on the party’s list of possible candidates.

With barely six months to go into the 2020 elections, the former president and NDC flagbearer John Dramani Mahama is yet to announce his running mate.
