I am here for you –Speaker assures female MPs on international women’s Day
Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin has extended heartfelt wishes to all women as the world celebrates International Women’s Day today.
Addressing the House after the President’s State of Nation Address on Wednesday, March 8, Mr. Bagbin told the women in the House that, “I am here for you.”
“Honourable members, today is International Women’s Day. I want to take this opportunity to congratulate all our beautiful ladies here and all ladies in the world for partnering with men to get us this far,” he added.
As part of this year’s celebration, Speaker Bagbin further entreated female parliamentarians to reach out to all women.
This, according to him is part of parliament’s 30 years celebration.
He also urged the men to partner with women in order to make an impact in 2023.
International Women’s Day is celebrated annually on March 8. It offers an opportunity to reflect on progress made, to call for change, and to celebrate acts of courage and determination by ordinary women who have played an extraordinary role in the history of their countries and communities.
This year’s celebration is under the theme, ‘DigitALL: Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality’.
It recognizes and celebrates the women and girls who are championing the advancement of transformative technology and digital education.
