How phone tracing led to arrest of two robbers
The Suntreso District Police Command has arrested two men in connection with a robbery incident at Alignment, a suburb of Kwadaso Estate in the Ashanti Region.
The suspects, 22-year-old Issah Abdul and 20-year-old Abdul Rahman, allegedly attacked a victim at knifepoint and made away with a handbag containing a Samsung smartphone valued at GH¢2,000 and other personal items.
According to the police, the suspects, armed with a machete and riding an unregistered blue motorbike, carried out the robbery before fleeing the scene.
However, in a surprising turn of events, one of the suspects unknowingly dropped his own Samsung mobile phone at the scene.
The device was retrieved by the victim and handed over to the police, providing a critical lead in the investigation.
This development led officers to arrest the suspects at Sofoline. During a search, police recovered five mobile phones and an amount of GH¢1,690.
In a statement, the police confirmed that the suspects confessed to the crime and subsequently led investigators to the location where the machete used in the attack had been concealed.
The two are currently in custody and are assisting with further investigations.
