Houseboy arrested for allegedly killing his employer

A 22-year-old man, John Alister suspected of killing his employer at Sokoban-Ampabame, a suburb of Kumasi has been arrested.

The suspect, who had been the victim, Princess Afia Ahenkan’s housekeeper for a month, is accused of stabbing her many times in her home on Monday, September 11, 2023.

According to reports, Ahenkan hired the suspect through an agency to assist with her business given that her husband resided in the United Kingdom.

He reportedly attacked the mother of one while she was on a phone call with a friend.

Upon hearing her screams for help followed by several unanswered calls, her friend rushed to her residence and subsequently called in the police.

The suspect reportedly absconded with the victim’s car and other valuables, including her mobile phone after the attack.

The body was sent to the mortuary at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital while the police mounted a manhunt for the suspect.

Police sources indicate that he was arrested at a hideout in Accra on Thursday, September 14.

The source added that the suspect is currently in police custody and is expected to be transported to Kumasi to assist police investigation.

Meanwhile, the bereaved family is calling for an investigation into the security company that employed the suspect.

A relative of the deceased, Patrick Mensah said it is, “Not up to two weeks when my mom brought the security guard here. I can’t say much but what I want is justice.

“I want the police to investigate the company and bring out some good news. Because you can’t just come here to commit such a crime. I will leave it to the police to do everything.”
