Hon. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful donates to Nasarawa Community

A new palace has been earmarked for the Chief of the Nasarawa community in the Ablekuma West Municipality, with construction works expected to start by July this year.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Ablekuma West Constituency, Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, disclosed this when she visited the Nasarawa Chief and Elders last Friday at his current palace.

She also disclosed that works on the main storm drain in the community would be beginning in the coming weeks. She indicated that this drain when completed, would save the community from annual floods that destroy property.

As part of her visit to Muslim Communities in her constituency, she donated food items to them as her support towards their Ramadan fast.

PROJECT

Mrs. Owusu-Ekuful said the relevant funding has been secured for the construction of the palace, which is expected to be completed in six months. The new palace replaces an old, partly wooden structure that has been used for a palace since the inception of the community.

RAMADAN AND COVID 19

The MP donated food items and sanitary materials to the community, as part of her contribution toward the fight against the novel Corona virus and its effects on the locals of her constituency.

The items included rice, oil, tomato paste, canned fish, veronica buckets, liquid soap, hand sanitizers and nose masks.

Mrs. Owusu-Ekuful encouraged the Nasarawa Chief and his leaders to educate their subjects on COVID-19 preventive protocols, to ensure members of the community are safe.

She explained the severity of the COVID-19 situation, stressing that, should there be an upsurge of cases in the community; there could be an imposition of a curfew and other forms of restrictions.

“The COVID-19 disease is real and the world as we know would not be the same again after this pandemic, so we all need to adapt to the new living conditions that will be imposed on us by the reality of the circumstance that COVID-19 has brought”, she added. She noted that even though it was difficult to adhere to social distancing protocols, it was necessary to respect the rules.

APPRECIATION

The Chief of the Nasarawa community, Sarki Amadu Kabori, expressed gratitude to the MP, saying she has delivered as she promised her late father, Sarki Ibrahim Kabori.

Alhaji Kabori pledged to spread the message on COVID-19 in his community to ensure the safety of his people.
