The Member of Parliament (MP) for North Tongu constituency, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has donated medical equipment and supplies to the Neuro-surgery Department of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) in Accra.

Presenting the equipment to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH),  Hon. Ablakwa stated the need to supply the medical equipment to the hospital because of the substantial impact it would make on medical services in Ghana.

Hon. Okudzeto Ablakwa donated assorted medical equipment, among which were cranial access systems, neurosurgery drills and instruments, an aneurysm clip set, a defibrillator, IV cannulae, dressing sets, neurosurgery drapes, Codman clips, anti-reflux valves, five-in-one connector sets, suction nuzzles, spirometers, suction catheters, neuro clips, infusion pumps, and dural pair patches.

These items were part of original consignment, purchased to support the construction of the second surgical theatre at the Saint Anne Polyclinic at Tagadzi in the North Tongu Constituency in a collaborative effort by the MP, Supplies Oversees; a non-governmental organization and the Catholic Diocese of Keta-Akatsi.

This was to climax the fulfillment of a commitment made by Mr Ablakwa in 2018 to furnish the ongoing construction of the surgical theatre in his constituency.

He later resolved to secure a 40-footer container full of medical supplies instead of an initially budgeted 20-footer container to be shipped from the United States of America.

A s a result of excess supplies after donating to Saint Anne Polyclinic at Tagadzi in the North Tongu Constituency, it became necessary for the excess equipment, be relayed to other health facilities, including the Ho Teaching Hospital and the KBTH.

The Chief Executive of KBTH, Dr Opoku Ware Ampomah, appreciated the Member of Parliament for the equipment, and further encouraged other political heads, corporate institutions, and non-governmental organizations to emulate the gesture.
