Ghana’s High Commission in South Africa has assured that the commission is working to ensure the release of the kidnapped Deacon of the Ghanaian Church of Pentecost in Johannesburg, South Africa.

This is in response to an unsettling incident during a church service on Sunday, October 29, 2023, where members of the Johannesburg branch of the Ghanaian Church of Pentecost were robbed at gunpoint, and a Deacon was abducted.

In an official statement released on Monday, October 30, the High Commission announced, “The Mission is presently working with the Church in cooperation with the South Africa Police Service (SAPS) to ensure the speedy and safe release and return of the victim to his family.”

The statement further assured the Ghanaian community in South Africa that the South African Police Service is diligently focused on the case to ensure the safe return of their fellow Ghanaian.

In light of these events, the High Commission urged the Ghanaian community to take necessary precautions for their safety and well-being while in the country.
