Here are the new faces in Ghana’s 9th Parliament

Source The Ghana Report

Ghana’s 9th Parliament welcomed a fresh batch of lawmakers, with several first-time MPs taking their seats in the legislative body.

After a significant number of losses at the polls, Ghana’s ninth legislature will have 135 new faces.

In 2020, the Eighth Parliament welcomed 101 new faces, while in 2017, 126 new faces entered the House.

These new parliamentarians will play a crucial role in shaping the country’s future.

According to Ghana’s parliamentary system, the country has a unicameral legislature composed of 276 Members of Parliament from single-member constituencies.

The new MPs will be part of this legislative body, working alongside seasoned politicians to pass laws and make key decisions for the nation.

The first-time MPs bring a diverse range of backgrounds and experiences to the table.

Some have come from the business world, while others have a background in entertainment, social activism, and public service.

This diversity is expected to enrich the debates and discussions in Parliament, bringing fresh perspectives to the legislative process.

As they settle into their new roles, the first-time MPs will face a steep learning curve.

They will need to navigate the complexities of parliamentary procedure, build relationships with their colleagues, and balance the needs of their constituents with the demands of their new role.

As Ghana’s Parliament begins a new session, all eyes will be on the first-time MPs to see how they will perform.

Will they bring a breath of fresh air to the legislative body, or will they struggle to find their footing? Only time will tell, but one thing is certain: the future of Ghana’s Parliament looks bright with this new crop of lawmakers.
