Here are the areas to be affected by ECG’s planned maintenance today

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), in collaboration with the Ghana Grid Company, has announced a comprehensive series of planned maintenance activities across various regions for today, Wednesday, March 18, 2026.

Engineers are scheduled to perform essential infrastructure upgrades, which will temporarily interrupt power supply to numerous communities ranging from the Volta Region to the Central enclave.

As per a detailed set of advisories released by the power distributor in recent days, these coordinated efforts aim to improve service reliability and bolster the stability of the national grid.

The outages will begin at different times in the affected areas, with the majority starting at 9:00 am; however, the length of the interruptions will vary significantly based on the extent of the work to be conducted at each site.

In the Volta Region, GRIDCO has planned three distinct maintenance operations at various Bulk Supply Points. The most extensive of these will occur at the Kpando and Kadjeibi Bulk Supply Points, both scheduled from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.

These nine-hour outages will impact a broad range of communities, including Kpando Township, Nkonya, Alavanyo, Agbenorxoe, Kwamekrom, Aziavi, Ve-Dome, Ve-Golokwati, Amedzofe, Vane, Fume, Torkor, Hohoe Township, Ayoma, Fodome, Kute, Sovie, Vakpo, and Anfoega, along with their neighbouring areas.

A third operation in the Volta Region is set to take place at the Sogakope Bulk Supply Point from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, resulting in a one-hour outage that will affect Sogakope, Akatsi, Comboni, Anloga, the Naval Training Centre, Adutor, Dabala, Cescineros, Yorkutikpo, Adidome, the GWCL pumping station, Woe, Agorta, and nearby communities.

In the Tema Region, a scheduled maintenance exercise will occur from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, affecting Lashibi, Community 19 Annex, Klagon, Old Ningo, and New Ningo, along with their surrounding areas.

The Central Region has the largest geographical coverage, with numerous exercises planned throughout the day. A significant operation will take place from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, impacting areas such as Winneba Junction, Onyadzi, Bewadzi, Gomoa Otiew, Mprumem, Simbrofo, Apam, Mumford, Gomoa Dago, Gomoa Assin, Ankamu Junction, and a wide range of Gomoa communities, including Ajumako, Akwakrom, Nkransh, Obokrom, Kumasi, Enyame, Dankyie, Koforidua, Dawurampong, Nduam, Wassa, Nkran, Esikuman, Debiso, Darman, Abonko, Lome, and Ogun, along with adjacent areas.

A second exercise in the Central Region will occur during the same hours, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, affecting Afrangua Mpeseduadze, Obokor, Jedu, and nearby regions.

Additionally, a shorter operation is scheduled from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, which will impact Ajumako township, Bisease, Kokoben, Eduyaw, Owane, Mando, Abaasa, Esarkyir, Gomoa Ayamaim, and surrounding localities.

In the Accra East Region, an eight-hour exercise from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm will affect Aseidu Nketia, parts of Oyarifa, Gravel Pit, parts of Burma Camp, and nearby areas.

Similarly, the Accra West Region will undergo an eight-hour outage during the same period, impacting Olebu, parts of Canada, New Bortianor, Adanseman, Cassava farm, Mr. Obeng block factory, Oshiyie, and surrounding communities.

In their public notices, the ECG and GRIDCO expressed their apologies to all customers affected, recognising the inconvenience that such technical interventions inevitably bring to both residential and commercial activities.

Nevertheless, the companies assured the public that these exercises are essential for ensuring the long-term strength of the power network and ultimately providing enhanced service to consumers across the regions.
