Help us identify dead man from Abelenkpe run over– Police
The Tesano Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service is appealing to the public to help identify and trace the family of a pedestrian who was knocked and killed by a vehicle.
The man, believed to be about 64 years old was run over at Abelenkpe in the Greater Accra Region.
He was hit on January 13, 2020 at about 2am and died two days later at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital where he had been conveyed for treatment.
“He was wearing a black T-shirt over a pair of shorts with slippers. The deceased is suspected to be an average age of sixty-five (65) year old, fair in complexion and stands at about five feet, eight inches (5,8”) tall,” Head of the Public Affairs Unit of the Accra Regional Command, DSP Effia Tenge, said in a statement on Wednesday.
The police want families who have missing relatives with the description given to immediately contact the Tesano MTTD for subsequent action.
Pedestrian knockdowns totalled 2,983 with 740 of the incidents resulting in deaths, according to data from the MTTD.
In the past 28 years, over 46,000 Ghanaians have died due to road accidents nationwide.
